Minecraft Dungeons delayed, arriving on PC and consoles this May

Minecraft Dungeons, Mojang’s Diablo-esque action role-playing game, has a release date. First unveiled in September 2018, it’s now set to arrive on May 26. The announcement was made Tuesday on the franchise’s official website. It will have a simultaneous launch across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. It will also be part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription program.

As Mojang’s Per Landin writes, Minecraft Dungeons was originally expected in May. Now “due to the current state of the world” the game has been bumped back.

“We wanted to guarantee the health and safety of our teams,” Landin said, “and empower them to deliver the best possible experience to you, our players. We hope you’ll find it was worth the wait.”

Polygon had a chance to try the game out last summer, and found a simple, if enjoyable, experience. The isometric game features randomly generated dungeons, filled with enemies that drop loot in spades. It includes both couch co-op and online multiplayer modes. Mojang said in their announcement that it would be available at two different price points. The $19.99 Standard Edition is the basic package, while the $29.99 Hero Edition includes additional cosmetic items, a chicken pet to follow you around on your adventures, and access to its two upcoming packs of downloadable content.
